Eventing Hall of Fame dinner

Lucinda Green and Supreme Rock kick off ERA’s Eventing Hall of Fame

Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials was the venue for the launch of the ERA Hall of Fame. A dinner was held to celebrate two horsey greats, the inaugural members of the Hall of Fame.

ERA Chairman Clayton Fredericks said: “There are many heroes gone by in our sport. With the ERA Hall of Fame we aim to honour these riders and their magnificent horses. The first awards have gone to two truly worthy characters, and re-living some of their stories made the evening!”

Trophies were presented by owner of Shearwater Insurance Jeremy Lawton who has invested in eventing in many ways. Jeremy is glad to support the organisation, “ERA does a valuable job for the sport of eventing and I am extremely pleased to be able to assist in the Eventing Hall of Fame – it is important that we recognise the heroes in our sport.”

Who better to start the Eventing Hall of Fame than Lucinda Green. With countless successes she contributed such a huge amount to the sport, and was an obvious choice. Following an in depth report of her successes over the years from Andrew Hoy, Lucinda was over the moon to receive the accolade, “I am absolutely thrilled – it has been a long time since I won anything and it is lovely to feel that I am worthy of such an Photo opldigital.comhonour. It really is very special to me.”

Supreme Rock was voted the first horse to be inducted in to the Hall of the Fame. William Fox-Pitt spoke of Rocky's career highlights and how he dominated the sport from 1999 – 2003 under the guidance of Pippa Funnell, before owner Emma Pitt was presented with the award. “It is a huge honour to receive this award and recognition of how Supreme Rock was adored by the British Public – it was all down to the partnership he had with Pippa!” commented Emma.

The next additions to the ERA Eventing Hall of Fame will be presented at Luhmuhlen CCI****.
